About Ultimate (Frisbee)

We know that the sport is called 'Ultimate' now. We also know that thousands of people search for the sport called 'Ultimate Frisbee' each month, either because they don't know that the sport name has changed or that if you type 'Ultimate' into a search engine, you'll get 257 million matches.

If people simply type in 'Ultimate Frisbee' in the browser window, they'll also come here.

Thus, for the first time in several years, ultimatefrisbee.com has an awesome presence befitting its awesome tradition and fanatically loyal devotees. We have created a site that we hope will appeal to the new ultimate player as well as the seasoned veterans. And for the fanatics, we have included the ability to upload videos and images and then rate them like many other popular sites. We have also created several different ways in which to receive tournament information.

We have heard from several different tournament organizers that it's becoming harder and harder to fill their events with quality teams because of the proliferation of new tournaments every year. Add to this fact that Ultimate players don't appear to be the best self-promoters (perhaps it's their humble nature).

In response to this, we have created several different ways to list and distribute tournament information. First, is our email distribution list, currently numbering over 300 double-opt in (meaning we have their explicit permission) subscribers. Each month we send out an email blast listing tournaments categorized by college, club and youth events.

The email contains largely the same information as on the UPA site, but we also go to the individual event sites to gather add'l information as you're doing your planning.

We've also created a tournament calendar on the site which allows you to add events to your Google calendar or lets you subscribe to a Nat'l College and/or Club Calendar so that each time an event is added, it automatically appears on your personal event calendar. This feature also allows you to create your own event and add to it a list of invitees right from the listing. Of course, Google Maps is integrated into this as well, giving you the ability to send the map information with your invite.

We hope that you like and appreciate the effort that went into this site, largely to support and promote the game of Ultimate. The owners of this site (Tom and Nate) are UPA members and played in college (Oberlin, Clark) many years ago.

Please let us know if there is anything you would like to see more of (or less) and feature or content ideas that will add to the value of the community. You can contact us at admin "at" ultimatefrisbee "dot" com.
